Apartment floor tiles are widely used in bathrooms, kitchens, and other rooms of the home for their ease of maintenance and water resistance. With the right floor tiles maintenance routine, you retain the aesthetics of your apartment décor for a long time.

-The Basics-

Regularly sweep or vacuum your floor tiles – This eliminates dust, food particles, etc from your apartment floor. You should remember to sweep the floor prior to using any cleaning solutions, wet clothes, etc. Try to do this daily to get the best results as settled dirt particles can be hard to remove from the floors.

Use damp clothes to mop floor tiles regularly. It is best to use old, ragged clothes instead of sponges. Also remember to change the water while mopping as dirty water can leave muddy, unglazed tiles.

To clean heavy traffic areas like entryway, kitchen, living room, use lukewarm water with mild detergent to get rid of hard to remove dirt particles and stains.

Some non-cleaning maintenance tips to keep your floor tiles in good form is to ensure, people who come from outside leave their shoes at the entrance. Also investing in mats and rugs can be a good idea to keep the floor tiles clean.

-Deep Cleaning-

When you own a flat in Dhaka city, the pollution and the dirt and dust can easily settle into your home which makes it essential to keep the floor clean not only for aesthetics but also for keeping it germ free. To disinfect floor tiles use a solution of antiseptics that are widely available in the market and clean with warm water.

For deep cleansing, you can clean floor tiles once a week using a solution of vinegar and water. If it still doesn’t look shiny, you can mop it again using new water and detergent.

Alternatively, to remove stains or spills from your floor tiles, use a microfiber cloth to wipe the area first. Then apply a solution of scouring powder (eg. Vim Powder). Let the paste rest for 5 minutes, then wipe the area with warm water to remove any residual.

Remember to dry the floor after mopping to avoid footprints on the floor tiles.

-How to Clean the Grout-

Aside from cleaning the apartment floor tiles, it is also important to take care of the grouts which are basically the sections between the tiles. Because of their characteristic hollow space, these spaces are a magnet to dirt and grimes, so it is essential to clean them regularly thoroughly.

The commonest trick to clean grout dirt is to apply a paste of baking soda and water usually in the ratio of 3:1 part. Rub it on the grout with a toothbrush and then rinse the area with warm water to get rid of any residue.

For the stubborn grout stains, let the paste on for some moment before you get down to cleaning.

If these do not work, you can resort to a solution made of bleach. But if the grout area is not white, then the bleach will discolor it. Make a 4:1 solution of bleach and water and clean similarly with a toothbrush and finally rinse off with warm water.

With these floor tiles care and maintenance tips, you can easily keep your floors shiny and clean.
