So you and your better half have just recently become first- time apartment owners- congratulations! Now you are on your way to live separately from your parents and need to move in to your new apartment. One important consideration when moving into your new apartment is planning your life ahead after you have settled in- there are things you need to buy for your new home and one of the important items in your buying checklist would be the kitchen essentials. Here is a checklist of kitchen necessities for your first apartment.

Kitchen utensils

These are the most basic kitchen items you must have in your first apartment kitchen set to cook an adequate meal.  Apart from traditional Bengali cookware such as copper pots of various sizes for cooking curry and rice, you will also need non-stick frying pan, spoons-wooden, nonstick, and stainless steel ones. You should also think of getting cutting board, roller pin and, flat wooden board for making flat breads, strainers, etc. For making your kitchen functional, buy a complete knife set instead of a single one, since the blades can wear off their sharpness and you will have to invest in a new one soon.

Kitchen appliances

Before you move into your first apartment, you also need to take care of kitchen appliances, which are another of the necessary items for new apartment. There are various kinds of kitchen appliances available in the market for different kitchen functions which can make your life a lot easier. Apart from big investment like a refrigerator which is a must-have item for your home, you also need blender, mixer, grinder and so on. It is important you get these appliances from a reputed store and are of reputed brands, as the market is filled with cheap replicas which will just be a waste of your money.

Kitchen non essentials

Besides the basic kitchen items you will regularly use, there are a few other items which you may require for usage only on occasional basis. These include: a pressure cooker, since anyone hardly uses it, unless it’s time for cooking scrumptious beef curry during Eid-ul-Adha. If you are a baking enthusiast, you also need baking-ware items for your kitchen such as mixer, cake pan, moldings, measuring cup etc.

Kitchen storage solution

A well- organized kitchen will make working in your kitchen an easy-breeze. Therefore you should also think ahead of storing kitchen items like spices, condiments etc in nifty jars. Plastic containers in my opinion are the best since glasses are fragile. You will also need food containers. You can invest in box sets of plastic which are great for storing dry foods.

When you are moving into a new apartment, it is almost like starting your life afresh and it can be pretty hectic. So plan ahead and prepare a first apartment checklist of items, equipments you need to buy to make your kitchen work easy. This way when you are finally settled down in your new home, you won’t have a meltdown in case you cannot find an essential item in your kitchen.

আপনার প্রথম অ্যাপার্টমেন্টের রান্নাঘরে পর্যাপ্ত খাবার রান্নার জন্য এগুলো রান্নাঘরের সবচেয়ে মৌলিক উপাদান। প্রথাগত বাংলা বাসনপত্র যেমন তরকারি ও ভাত রান্নার জন্য বিভিন্ন আকারের তামার পাত্র ছাড়াও আপনার ফ্রাইং প্যান,কাঠের চামচ, নন-স্টিক এবং স্টেইনলেস স্টীল এর জিনিস প্রয়োজন হবে। এছাড়াও আপনার রান্নাঘরকে কার্যকর করার জন্য কাটিং বোর্ড,বেলন, ছাঁকনি, রুটি বানানো কাঠের বোর্ড,ইত্যাদির কথাও মনে রাখবেন। একটি ছুরি কেনার পরিবর্তে সম্পূর্ণ একটি সেট কিনুন,যেহেতু ব্লেডের তীক্ষ্ণতা কমে যেতে পারে এবং খুব শীঘ্রই আপনাকে নতুন একটি কিনতে হতে পারে তখন আবার খরচ করতে হবে।

রান্না ঘরের যন্ত্রপাতি

আপনি আপনার প্রথম এপার্টমেন্টে যাবার আগে আপনার রান্নাঘরের যন্ত্রপাতির প্রতি যত্নশীল হতে হবে,যা নতুন অ্যাপার্টমেন্ট জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় আরেকটি বিষয়। বাজারে রান্না ঘরে বিভিন্ন কাজের জন্য ব্যবহৃত বিভিন্ন ধরণের যন্ত্রপাতি পাওয়া যায়, যা আপনার জীবন অনেক সহজ করে তুলতে পারে। ফ্রিজ যা আপনার বাড়ির জন্য আবশ্যক, তা কেনার মত বড় বিনিয়োগ ছাড়াও আপনার দরকার ব্লেন্ডার, মিক্সার, গ্রাইন্ডার ইত্যাদি। এসব যন্ত্রপাতি কোনো নাম করা দোকান থেকে এবং ব্র্যান্ডের হওয়াটা জরুরী, কারন বাজারে সস্তা নকল জিনিসে ভরপুর, যাতে শুধু আপনার টাকাই নষ্ট হবে।

রান্না ঘরের অনাবশ্যকীয় জিনিস

রান্নাঘরে নিয়মিত ব্যবহার্য মৌলিক জিনিসগুলোর পাশা-পাশি আরো কিছু জিনিস থাকে, যা আপনি শুধুমাত্র প্রয়োজনের ভিত্তিতে ব্যবহার করেন। এর মধ্যে রয়েছে প্রেসারকুকার বিশেষ সময় ছাড়া ব্যবহার করা হয় না। আপনি যদি বেকিং-এ উৎসাহী হয়ে থাকেন তাহলে বেকিং এর সামগ্রী যেমন মিক্সার, কেকপ্যান মোল্ডিং, পরিমাপক কাপ ইত্যাদি প্রয়োজন হবে।

রান্নাঘরে স্টোরেজ সমাধান

একটি সু-সংগঠিত রান্নাঘর আপনার রান্না ঘরের কাজ সহজ হতে সাহায্য করে। আর তাই রান্নাঘরের মশলা, আচার ইত্যাদি ছিমছাম বয়ামে সংরক্ষণ করার কথা মনে রাখবেন। প্লাস্টিকের পাত্র কাচের পাত্রের চেয়ে ভাল, যেহেতু তা ভঙ্গুর। এছাড়াও আপনার খাদ্য রাখার পাত্রেরও প্রয়োজন হবে। আপনি প্লাস্টিকের বক্সসেট কিনতে পারেন যা শুকনো খাবার জমা করার জন্য উৎকৃষ্ট।যখন আপনি একটি নতুন এপার্টমেন্টে যান,তা আপনার জীবন নতুন করে শুরু করার মত এবং এটা কিছুটা সাহসী পদক্ষেপ হতে পারে।
